Guidance, not legal advice

Reloco organizes general information about moving to the US as a student and links to official sources. It isn’t legal, immigration, tax or financial advice, and it may be out of date or not fit your situation. For anything about your immigration status, check with your school’s international student office (ISSS at UNC) or your J-1 sponsor, and follow official instructions when they differ from Reloco.

Work authorization and changing rules

Reloco explains CPT, OPT and STEM OPT timelines from official sources, but it doesn’t authorize anything. Only ISSS can approve CPT or recommend OPT, and only USCIS can grant work authorization. Never start work based on Reloco alone. Immigration rules change, sometimes quickly (for example, the DHS rule on duration of status was paused by a court on Sept 14, 2026), and Reloco may not reflect a change right away. When in doubt, ask ISSS.

Not affiliated with UNC

Reloco is independent. It isn’t run, endorsed or reviewed by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill or any government agency. University names are used only to describe where the roadmap applies. Reloco certificates are keepsakes, not official documents.

Your account

• Keep your sign-in secure. You’re responsible for activity on your account.
• Only upload documents that are yours, and check scanned dates before saving them.
• Don’t misuse Reloco, for example by trying to access other people’s data or overload the service.

The service

Reloco is provided “as is”, without warranties. We may change or stop features. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for losses from relying on Reloco, including missed deadlines. Always confirm key dates with the official source. Reminders are a convenience and may not always arrive.

Ending

You can stop using Reloco and delete your data anytime from Profile. We may suspend accounts that misuse the service.

Changes

We may update these terms; the date above will change. Continuing to use Reloco means you accept the update.
