Privacy notice

Last updated September 28, 2026. Written in plain language on purpose.

The short version

• We collect what we need to build your roadmap, and nothing to sell. No ads, no tracking cookies.
• We never keep copies of your passport, visa, I-20 or I-94. Only a few dates from them, if you choose to add them.
• You can delete everything, at any time, from your profile.

What we collect

• Your answers: first name, the city and passport country you fly from (both optional), whether you’re starting at UNC or already studying there, your arrival, program start and expected graduation dates, housing, funding, and whether you have an SSN or a bank account or plan to work on campus, do an internship, major in a STEM field or drive.
• Your progress: which tasks and steps you’ve finished, and the day you finished them (for streaks).
• Document wallet: which documents you’ve marked ready, and only these dates: passport and visa expiry, I-20 program start and end, and your I-94 entry date, class of admission and admit-until. Never names, document numbers, dates of birth or images.
• With an account: your email address (to sign in and, if you turn them on, for reminders).

Document scanning

Scanning is optional; you can always type the dates instead. When you scan, the photo is sent once to Anthropic’s Claude API to read the dates, and Reloco discards it straight after, we don’t store or log it. The scanner is limited to returning the fields above. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, data sent through its API isn’t used to train its models. You review every value before anything is saved. We suggest covering your document number and photo before you scan.

How we use it

Only to build and time your roadmap: for example, your graduation date schedules OPT, your passport country adds tax treaty and passport notes, and your plans decide whether CPT or STEM OPT tasks appear. We don’t use your information for advertising, and we don’t sell it.

Where it’s stored

• Without an account (guest): in a cookie in your browser. It isn’t kept on our servers. Clearing your cookies, or 180 days without a visit, removes it.
• With an account: in our database hosted by Supabase, protected so that each account can only read its own data.

Who helps us run Reloco

• Vercel hosts the app.
• Supabase stores accounts and roadmaps (only if you create an account).
• Anthropic reads document scans and may write short personal notes on your roadmap from your answers (never from your documents).
• Resend delivers reminder emails, only if you turn them on.
• Google, only if you choose “Continue with Google”.

They process data for us to provide those services, not for their own purposes.

Sharing

Nothing is shared unless you create a share link. A share page shows your first name, school, landing date, stamps and task progress (it uses your program dates to sort tasks into class years). Never your documents or other answers. Account links can be reset or turned off anytime. Guest links are encrypted snapshots; they can’t be turned off, so share them only with people you trust.

Cookies

Only essential ones: your sign-in session, your guest roadmap (if you don’t have an account), and your light/dark preference.

Your choices and rights

• See and correct your answers anytime in Profile.
• Clear your document wallet anytime.
• Turn reminders, calendar feeds and share links on or off.
• Delete all your data (and your login) from Profile → Your data.

Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have further rights, like getting a copy of your data. We rely on your consent and on providing the service you asked for.

Age

Reloco is for students aged 13 and over. If you’re under 18, please use it with a parent or guardian’s permission.

Changes

If we change how we handle your data, we’ll update this page and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
